The Department of Small Business Development is offering aid to small to medium enterprises that are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This relief fund will be presented in three forms:

Debt Relief Finance Scheme

Business Growth/ Resilience Facility

Tax measures to combat the pandemic

When is my business compliant?

This list describes what needs to be done for your business to be classified as compliant.

We specialize in compliance for SMMEs affected by COVID-19.

In the meantime it would be advisable to get the following documents in order, no matter which route you will be following:

  • 3-months bank statements
  • Proof of employees that may be assisted
  • Supporting documentation/ letter stating how your business is in distress as a result of Covid-19
  • Proof that the business is negatively affected by COVID-19 pandemic;
  • Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet
  • Company Statutory Documents;
  • FICA documents (e.g. Municipal accounts, letter from traditional authority);
  • Certified ID Copies of Directors;
  • Latest Annual Financial Statements or Latest Management Accounts not older than three months from the date of application – where applicable;
  • a Business Profile;
  • 6 months Cash Flow Projections – where applicable;
  • 6 months Cash Flow Projections – where applicable;
  • Copy of Lease Agreement or Proof ownership if applying for rental relief; or Rent statement (if you have one)
  • If applying for payroll relief, details of employees - as registered with UIF and including banking details – will be required as payroll payments will be made directly to employees;
  • SMME employers who are not compliant with UIF must register before applying for relief;
  • Facility Statements of Other Funders
  • Detail breakdown on application of funds including salaries, rent etc.


Don't send these docs to anybody, be careful of scammers! Just have them ready when you submit your application yourself from the 2nd of April at


But you DO need to register with the Department of Small Business Development without delay!
